Video work developed in the Wood Biology Research Department of the Royal Museum of Central Africa, in Brussels. 

 

Filmed in the xilarium, a collection of more than 80.000 samples from around the world. The collection was born in the XIXth century, with a strong colonial oriented economical potential related to the discovery of exotic african woods. Nowadays, its work is oriented towards forest ecology.

 

Through interviews to the scientist and a documentation of the space, the work aims to trace a possible path between colonialism, science, economics, ecology and labor intimacy.
